Projects – Cooperation that benefits the region
Latte Arborea's true strength has always been cooperation. Every project stems from listening to our community and the desire to restore value to the land that nourishes us. This is why we promote research, nutrition education, and sustainability initiatives, with the goal of generating positive and lasting impacts on our community and the environment.
Good Milk in Schools – Growing Up Well, Right from the Desks
Eat well, play better, grow happy. Good Milk in Schools is the nutrition education project that brings smiles to Sardinia’s primary schools. Together with Lady Arborella and the mascot Arborella, children discover—through stories, workshops, and games—the importance of eating mindfully, staying active, and caring for themselves and the environment.
Climalat Project – Less Stress, More Well-Being
When it’s too hot, even cows suffer. With CLIMALAT, we studied—together with the Department of Agriculture at the University of Sassari—the effects of heat stress on dairy cows and corn crops. The data collected allowed us to develop new best practices for farmers, improving the microclimate in the barn and animal welfare.
NPP-SOL – Solutions against diffuse pollution
Protecting the land also means addressing invisible challenges. With the NPP-SOL (Non-Point Pollution Solutions) project, we work to prevent widespread agricultural pollution by adopting concrete and sustainable solutions. Through analysis, monitoring, and smart technologies, we help farms take care of their soil, water, and fertilizers every day.
Characterization Plan – Knowing the environment to better protect it
To protect a land, you need to know it thoroughly. The Characterization Plan allows us to monitor soil, water, and livestock effluents, especially in Arborea’s Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZs). This project transforms data and analysis into concrete tools for more efficient, balanced, and environmentally friendly nitrogen management.
Life Cycle Assessment – The environmental footprint of our milk, measured
How much does a liter of milk really impact the environment? We discovered this thanks to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, in collaboration with the University of Sassari. The result is a scientific and certified measurement of our milk’s carbon footprint: a fundamental step towards making the supply chain increasingly transparent, responsible, and sustainable.
Dairy Chain – A more sustainable supply chain, together
Making milk even better requires teamwork, from the barn to the table. With Dairy Chain, we’ve engaged with dairy farms to improve milk quality, reduce environmental impact, and make farms more efficient. This project, shared with technicians, farmers, and universities, makes our supply chain stronger, more transparent, and more responsible.
NITROSCAN: Smart monitoring for more sustainable livestock farming
Nitrogen is a precious resource, but it must be carefully dosed. With NITROSCAN, we use innovative technology (Near Infrared Spectroscopy) to analyze livestock effluents and optimize fertilization. This project helps farmers make more sustainable choices, respecting the soil and providing better nutrition to their crops.
MITIGA – Addressing environmental issues with the right data
Knowing the land is the first step to protecting it. With MITIGA, we monitor environmental conditions through IoT (Internet of Things) sensors and smart weather stations, collecting data that helps farmers make more informed decisions. This is how technology becomes the land’s ally.
PROMETEO – Environmental Intelligence for Better Irrigation
Water is life, and every drop counts. ProMeteo helps farmers in our supply chain manage it effectively, thanks to a system of sensors and weather forecasts that suggests when and how much to irrigate. Less waste, higher yields, and a profound respect for our most precious resource.
An investment that starts from the land and reaches far
Every project we support stems from a simple idea: caring for what surrounds us. We do this with scientific partners, smart technologies, and the direct involvement of our farming community.
Because for us, sustainability is a concrete choice, to be cultivated every day. Together.
FAQs
Why does Arborea invest so much in local projects?
Because we are a cooperative, even before we are a company. Each of our projects stems from the desire to restore value to the land that nourishes us, listening to the needs of our farming community and creating growth opportunities for people, the environment, and the future of the island.
How do you choose which projects to support?
Projects are selected based on the positive impact they can have on the local community. We collaborate with universities, research institutions, schools, local communities, and institutions to build shared, concrete, and replicable approaches. Each initiative is designed to last and leave a lasting impact.
Do your projects also involve young people?
Yes, many. From primary school with “Il Buon Latte nelle Scuole” (Good Milk in Schools) to training and generational transition activities on farms, Arborea invests in young people as the driving force of the future. Because every new generation brings with it new energy, and together we can build a more aware Sardinia.
What does “sustainable innovation” mean to you?
It means using technology to improve agricultural work, reduce environmental impact, and enhance natural resources. Projects like MITIGA, PROMETEO, and NITROSCAN are examples of how innovation, when guided by values, can become a tool at the service of the earth.
Sustainability
Sustainability isn't just an opportunity, it's a daily responsibility.
For us, respecting the environment and caring for animal welfare is not an extra detail, but the starting point. Every decision, every action, every innovation is designed to build a fairer future, for those who are here today and for generations to come.
